Since October 2014 more than 2000 citizens have been brutally murdered in and around Beni, a town in North Kivu, Congo. Both men, women and children are being slaughtered with machetes. Many others are raped and abducted.
Today, more than two years after the start of the atrocities, more than 1,000 people have died and hundreds remain missing. Another 80,000 people have fled the villages and started looking up the relative safety in the city of Beni. But it’s still unclear who is behind these attacks, and why the population is being hunted.
